Lead glass

Due to the dangers of X-ray radiation, leaded glass can be one of the most widely used imaging shields.
Uses of this protector may include nuclear power plants, the places where radioactive materials are stored, laboratories and imaging centers.

Use in imaging centers

Lead glass is used where the user or operator needs to monitor the imaging of the patient’s position and condition.

The following table highlights some points:

Lead Glass Production Process

The molten lead is first melted in industrial furnaces and then poured into molten pistol tanks and adjusted for the diameter and size of the element’s pressure and aperture to remove dust and pollen.
The volume of lead dust is also referred to as “mesh,” for example, to produce 0.1m lead with 400 mesh, adjusts the amount of pressure then sprays lead into cold water ponds, and all of these pollens are cooled to the same size and volume, and It accumulates in the form of lead soil at the bottom of the pond.
After collecting the lead soil, it melts the silica into other tanks and directs it into molds of the specified diameter and size and again releases lead pollen that has been colorless with lead oxide in a manner that spans it. It is evenly distributed in the melted silica, so that after cooling the silica glass will have a very high transparency.

Of course, this process of production, while simple in expression, is very complex and requires a great deal of precision in its production.

The use of lead glass in parts also prevents X-ray penetration in addition to the ability to pass light.

Lead Partition

It is interesting to know that one of the most common uses of lead glass is in lead-smelting operations.
